There was a recent letter to the editor chiding Sen. Manchin of West Virginia about not showing enough concern for global warming. I am NOT concerned about global warming or climate change or whatever you choose to call it.
I’ll tell you why. Sixty years ago, and more, this warming showed its ugly head. I recently viewed artist renderings on the internet, these are similar to those published in magazines in the 1960s. Nothing happened when we were warned that flooding would change the world as we knew it. It never even came close.
Later, when the Environmental Protection Agency came into being, the same thing happened. Venice, Italy was predicted to be underwater within five years. Nothing happened. In 2007, Al Gore released a movie showing that polar bears would lose their habitat in four to five years. Nothing happened.
Of late, it has been reported that Mr. and Mrs. Barack Obama purchased an estate at Martha’s Vineyard. The last time I checked, Martha’s Vineyard was an island. The Obama family doesn’t seem to be concerned about this latest eight-year warning, noting that the eight-year warning was four years ago.
Please understand that I do believe the Earth is warming, I just don’t think we will be able to do anything about it. There is a movement toward renewable energy, like solar and wind, but Texas suffered a massive power problem just last winter because a sudden cold snap froze everything connected with the renewable power system. The experts said this was because Texas was not prepared. How could they not have been prepared? Oh, maybe coal-fired power would have helped.
You have to pay attention to what is going on and what is being said. We saw this kind of thing during the 1970s when oil prices were allowed to increase so that the people would be more interested in electric vehicles. We all know how that turned out. Now the same thing is happening, but we all have a way to investigate. I looked for information on electric vehicles, and found that it would cost more per mile to travel 100 miles with electric, even if gasoline was priced at $3.80 per gallon.
What DOES concern me is this idea of what is called human infrastructure. This sounds like socialist propaganda. Preschool for 3 to 5 year olds, when these kids believe almost anything they’re told. We already have heard that some children are suffering depression because of this global warming scare. Preschool, K through 12 elementary and the possibly college, with constant teaching that the world as we know it will end, coupled with a voting age of 16 can only lead to euthanasia.
