Phalaborwa Herald spoke to Thapelo ‘Tips’ Motimele, a fitness expert on how to start and stay active throughout the year. He believes that starting small is key for lasting health and fitness.
“There is no need to get into the gym and start lifting a ton of weight.
“Start by walking 20-30 minutes a day and by doing something small everyday, that way you are setting up an exercise habit. Over time you can add more challenging exercises,” Tips explained.
He said the easiest way to become healthier is by eating healthy food, hike, find the types of workouts you love and doing it as often as you can.
“It is important for people to exercise, as it helps to shed weight, reduces the risk of diseases and helps to age well.”
He said that common mistake people make is not keeping to a routine, not focussing on form and skipping warm-up.
He offers a range of fitness services including, group sessions at Foskor Sports Ground, gym sessions, one-on-one training and home and pregnancy workouts.
