LAPEER — Are you looking for more group interaction in this age of social distancing? The Lapeer District Library invites teenagers (13-18) to join its new virtual Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) gaming group.
The group meets virtually the second and fourth Sunday of the month starting at 1 p.m. The next virtual game day is Sunday, Jan. 9.
Each session usually lasts three to four hours. A Game Master and D&D enthusiast will lead the gameplay and guiding players in each session.
The group will use the website Roll20 to play the game and Guilded, a chat site for gaming communities to communicate during gameplay. Players should provide their email address on the registration link and will receive further instructions for registering on Roll20 and Guilded.
For the first couple of sessions, the group will start out with one session games with predetermined characters, or ‘oneshots’, to get everyone familiar with the format, each other, and the websites being used. After that, there will be a session devoted to character development in order to create a character to use when the group begins their ‘campaign’, which is a longer game that covers more than one session. No D&D experience is required for joining the group.
Registration is required. For more information, call the Fiction Desk at the Marguerite deAngeli Library at 810-664-6971.
