The supply chain issues dogging the global economy are predicted to continue long into 2022, meaning many in-demand electronics like the Xbox series X remain sold out across the board.
While December saw many UK retailers release thousands more consoles to Christmas shoppers, following the holidays Microsoft’s next-generation games machine is once again out of stock online.
When new stock does appear, it’s usually without warning and sells out in minutes, or even seconds, as eager online customers snap up the available units a soon as they arrive. That’s why we launched our Xbox series X stock tracking liveblog, where we monitor every UK retailer at once to bring you instant stock alerts. That way, you’ve got a fighting chance of picking up a console before it sells out.
We’ll also bring you tips and advice for beating the crowds to bag an Xbox series X, including which sites to pay attention to, where the Xbox might be restocked next, and how to register your interest for new consoles before they go on sale.

When did the Microsoft Store last have Xbox stock?
You’d think the official Xbox store would be swimming in consoles, but the retailer has to fight in the mud for the console just like everybody else.
The online-only store last had the Xbox series X in stock on 21 December, and before that on 17 December when re-opened orders for the limited edition Halo Infinite Xbox bundle.

Does AO have the Xbox series X in stock?
Let’s rattle through a few more retailers and when we predict they’ll restock the Xbox.
AO last restocked the Xbox series X on the 30 December, and before that on 10 December. The retailer loves a bundle, and tends to include all manner of extra accessories such as a controllers and games.
AO hasn’t restocked in January yet, but we’re estimating another drop there next week.

When did Argos last restock the Xbox series X?
Currys and Smyths Toys might be the heroes of the moment, but we’re expecting other retailers to receive shipments of Microsoft’s new console soon too.
High on our list is Argos, which last restocked on 21 December. Argos faithfully restocks the console roughly once every four weeks, so we’re predicting another batch to arrive early next week.
The best way to buy an Xbox series X from Argos is through the app. Add the console to your wish list, which lets you slip the Xbox into your basket in advance for a speedy checkout when the time comes.

The Xbox series X is in stock at Currys
There are two Xbox bundles at Currys, and they’ve been in stock for weeks.
For reference, the console by itself costs £449 – so let’s take a look at these deals in that light.
For £589, the first bundle includes the ridiculously elite premium controller, which normally retails at £150, three times as much as a regular pad. While it’s undeniably a cool accessory – you can swap out the thumb sticks and adjust the tension in the shoulder triggers to your preference – you get a perfectly good standard controller with the Xbox series X anyway. Only pro-level players and specialist collectors would bother with the fancy version.
You can also purchase the Xbox series X as part of a bundle containing the Seagate 1TB expansion hard drive for £644. We’ve seen the expansion drive sell for around £190 in the past, so this is slightly cheaper than buying both products separately.
We reckon the bundle with the extra hard drive is the best value option here, if you can afford it. Expanding the Xbox’s capacity gives you more room for downloads, and games are taking up more and more space.

To get there, get off at Gallions Reach DLR station and hop on the 366 to Redbridge. Continue past the gas works. If you get to Beckton Sewage Treatment Works, you’ve gone too far.

Xbox stock trackers, signing off
Well that’s all from us for another day, thank you for joining us here on the Xbox series X stock tracking liveblog.
Those Currys Xbox bundles are still ticking along nicely – the expensive add-ons seem to be putting people off – while Asda and Smyths Toys are also taking applications for Xbox All Access, the pay monthly alternative to paying full price for the console up front.
If you’re holding out for the console to appear back in stock without any bundled controllers and what have you, join us again tomorrow when we’ll be resuming the search. Bye bye!

Why doesn’t Amazon have the Xbox series X?
Amazon is completely sold out of the Xbox series X in the UK, and last restocked just before Christmas. In recent weeks the retail giant has had availability of Microsoft’s new console in Germany, France and Spain.
If you’re thinking about importing the Xbox from Europe you might want to consider some of the hidden costs first. Importing items above a certain value from the EU incurs a set of taxes, delivery charges and fees. Because of the added red tape required, many courier services have hiked up their prices too.
You can expect to pay at least £100 extra to buy an Xbox this way, but on the upside your console will have a laid-back continental attitude and generally pleasing French electro vibes.
